Royal Ramblings

Once Upon A Time there was a –

Seriously? Are we really going through this again? Don’t you think the whole “Once upon a time” thing is starting to get a little old?

First off, it isn’t ‘Once upon a time’ it’s ‘Once Upon A Time. Get it right. Secondly, this is how most proper fairy tales start. I wouldn’t know how to start it any other way.

Okay, what makes you think that my story is going to be a proper fairy tale? I mean, look at me. Do I look like a proper princess to you?

Er, well no. But –

So why I would want my story told like the others? Sitting around, singing as I wait for my prince to come? No thank you. If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that men are always late. And time’s ticking mister - er ma’me, giant narrator voice person. You may not know how to start off the story but I do.

Are you firing me?

Well, I was actually only going to suggest you take a break as my story probably won’t take that long…but what the hell sure. You’re fired. Go do some radio commercials or something.

Fine! I don’t need to be here anyway! I have loads of places that need me! Proper princes and princess who wait for months for me to help them with their story. But no…I only came here as a favor to your mother and this is the thanks I get? Next time I oughta tell her where to shove her golden roses…

So now that she’s finally gone, where were we? Oh right, I’m Rosaline Kingston, Princess Rosaline Daniella Kingston actually but you can call me Rosy. Everyone does, except for my mother who claims the name Rosy is too plain. But I like it and that’s what I want everyone to call me, you hear that Mother?

Where was I? Right, a princess. So yes, I’m a princess and my parents own a kingdom. But before you get all high pitched and excited I should warn you that our kingdom is much smaller then other kingdoms. The smallest actually. Okay, it would probably only take you twenty minutes to reach each side but it’s still a kingdom nevertheless!

I guess you can already tell I’m not exactly your typical princess so we can skip all those informalities. If you haven’t guessed it…then yeah I’m not. I don’t sew, I don’t sing, don’t ask me to cook (unless what you want to eat is boiled water, then I’m your girl!), and animals tend to bite me. A lot.

But the most important thing is that I don’t wait for my prince to come. I go searching for him. And fight for him when I find him. Especially when my stupid cousin Christina tries to get her claws into him. Because I know, as well as any other woman out there, royalty or not, that if you find such a perfect guy, you’ve got to do all you can to keep him. Even okay ones are pretty rare. Talk about a needle in the haystack. Try field of hay.

But the funny thing is, even though I’m not a typical princess…in the end, I still achieved my happily ever after. Even though sometimes it feels like I’m just settling. Especially when he starts to drive my nerves by calling me Rosaline to annoy me, but overall we’re happy. I guess when it comes down to it, as long as you strive to be happy you can be. Princess or not.

But if you would, read my story so my mother could be happy. She still hopes that I would become a great princess someday. I don’t want to disappoint her so I often pay people to come and pretend to ask about my story. But…the bills do tend to pile up after a while and keeping up a castle ain’t easy you know.

And the Madness Begins!

Well, like it says in our introduction, Elana and I have put together many of our rps and I in turn put our wonderful creations into stories while she made graphics for each one. (EDIT: Darnit, makes it seem like I don't do any hard work XD I did write essentially half of Fated, and help with editing them all, hehe.) We'll be using this blog for our updates and little extra things we have for each story. Now I won't blab on and on about it so just check it out for yourself below!

Fated Mishaps
Being an average teenager, Antonia (please don't make any jokes) "Toni" DeWitt has never placed importance in history. Or any other subject in school for that matter. It wasn't as though she needed to know history in her everyday life. Yet when she suddenly finds herself transported back through time, she soon finds herself wishing that she had stayed awake during her hours at school. Try as she might to blend in, her strange looks and speech along with her smart aleck comments soon land her in the dungeons to await her witch trial.

Stuck in a loveless engagement arranged by her uncle, the Baron Henry Newbury, Lady Evelyn Newbury struggles with her decision to obey her uncle or follow her heart. Orphaned at a young age, she had vowed to be the perfect picture of a dutiful niece. Yet Evie discovers that, with her future at stake, she must do what she can to find her own happiness. As she plots her escape, Evie soon finds an ally in the mysterious stranger in her uncle's dungeons.

FATED MISHAPS follows the adventures of two girls from different time periods as they unexpectedly find a friendship that gives them the strength needed to do what they must to survive betrayal, love, and life. Told through the eyes of the quirky and proud Toni and the caring and naive Evie, this novel is a mixture of humor and adventure that shows readers that some friendships can survive - even time in its most extreme form.

We'd had the idea for Fated for a long while, but during NaNoWriMo 2008 decided to actually write the story. We were successful!

Stolen Promises
The once peaceful Hawthorne household was torn to pieces in a matter of seconds when their daughter, Jocelyn Rae was ordered to travel hundreds of miles away to marry the rumored ruthless Laird Boswell or risk the wrath of the king. For the sake of her family, she left despite her family's protests. Unable to let her sister sacrifice her happiness, her younger sister Victoria Rose followed her and convinced her to come home. Together they escaped the king's guards. The Hawthorne sisters vowed to return home to protect their parents at whatever cost. Yet they soon found themselves at the mercies of even worst dangers that lurked within the heart of Highlands. Dangers that not only made them lose their way but also their hearts.

While on a mission to find the Boswell bastards that attacked his lands early in the week, Laird Gavin MacAlister and his ally Laird Alec Frasier soon found more than they bargained for. As Gavin stumbles upon Laird Boswell's lovely English betroth and her servant, he decided to take her as his own instead. As time passes, Gavin and Alec soon discovered that a plot set out for revenge could give them the one person they've needed all their lives.

Private
High school. Is there anything worse?

Only when you're trying to get through life while attending Wycliffe Heights Academy, one of the richest, most prestigious private schools in the United States. And by prestigious, it usually means that no matter what the students at Wycliffe Heights do, it will never spread to the press or their permanent records. The unofficial rule is that the more money your family donates to the school the more they turn a blind eye to your antics.

So it's understandable that the leaders of the school are the children of the obscenely wealthy. Imagine stuck up cheerleaders and jocks with no rules or punishments restraining them and unlimited money at their fingertips. They cater to no one and look down at everyone. This is especially bad news for students who are not of the elite, born with a diamond pacifier in mouth.

But there are a rare few at the school who were born with regular plastic toys in their hands. And a few even rarer ones who won't abide by the rules of the rich and privileged. No matter what happens.

High school...is about to get interesting.

The Plastic Slipper
“If someone tried to put me to sleep, I’d strangle him with his own poison apple.”

Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty…it was no wonder that of all the princess stories of the past, Princess Rosaline Daniella Kingston’s story was rarely, if ever, told (despite her parent’s efforts). After all, she wasn’t exactly a typical princess. Although lovely, her beauty was lost in the sea of beautiful princesses before her. As her mother stated before “Nice bone structure but she’s no Cinderella…” Combined with being tone deaf and a natural smart mouth, Rosy was as many would say ‘a few diamonds short of a beautiful tiara.’

But even atypical princesses would have their fair share of enemies. Generally in the form of an evil stepmother. Or in Rosy’s case, in the form of her innocent looking, sweet distant cousin Lady Christina Gwyneth Townsend, who was determined to take Rosy’s place and be the most famous Princess of all. What’s a girl to do when she’s forced by her parents to be a princess she can never be, and hated for being someone she can’t help being? Being a princess sure isn't as easy as it used to be...

We also have a whole new Regency Romance Series that is under construction at the moment so it'll be coming soon!

If you're interested in reading a few chapters of each, you can check it out at
http://theunlockedcloset.moonfruit.com/#. Unfortunately, we hadn't updated a few of the stories for a while so MoonFruit shut them down. You can still access Stolen Promises and The Plastic Slipper, though! We also have more graphics as well as videos and character photo bases for each story.

P.S There Elana, the first post is just waiting for you to edit and jazz up. xD You know my writing is blah without you! Hehe

P.P.S Your writing is fine! Just added a bit in the intro and conclusion...and will have the banners up by the end of the weekend ^^
